During the first lockdown we teamed up with a group of collaborators who were being organised by a company called Fable Feast who are an immersive theatre company based in London. We were teamed up with Benjamin Peter Jones, an actor and a group of animators who contributed to an animated version of the poem, Hatton's Cross, penned by Jim Jack from Fable Feast.
We started field recording sounds. One thing that became immediately apparent as we started field recording was the lack of traffic noise during the first lockdown and the influx of the sounds of nature due to the absence of the normal human activity. Traffic noise is really the ultimate noise pollution, it is ever present if you live near or in a city environment and when it is absent, it reminds you how we are living in a way that completely goes against nature.
We gathered lots of different sounds after creeping ourselves out in the woods. We assembled them all in our DAW and started adding
Hatton's Cross - the soundtrack started to take shape and we tried all kinds of creepy sound effects as part of the soundscape. The finished production is now available to watch on Fable Feasts' Youtube channel.
Don't forget to turn the lights down low and the sound up before you watch this one.
